What is the "Acting Mindfully Lab”?
It is an exploration of three pillars.
The first pillar is Mindfulness, where we delve into Mindfulness practices that will help improve focus, concentration and memory. It offers methods to cope with stress and anxiety, to be kinder to yourself and others, to be more empathetic of the characters you are playing, and to fully listen to others in a scene.
The second pillar is script work combined with acting exercises. We will explore script analysis, character motivation and desires, emotional truth and more. Here, actors will get on their feet and into the scene working with others, or on their own with monologues and audition pieces. We explore and go deeper in the training, and discover when mindfulness practices are helpful.
The third pillar delves into Creative Life Coaching as a group. Through powerful questions, reflecting and journaling we discover a greater understanding of the scene and character. And on a personal level, the actor can find more clarity of how to move forward as a performer. Joanne is a trained Life Coach and she brings that skill into the classroom.
The course is in-person.
